Archival Photo Albums Preserve Your Memories
For some time now, we have been writing about the fact that eco-friendly photo albums are beautifully handmade items, many of which coming from the exotic island paradise of Bali, in Indonesia. Though this is all true, it's not the complete story, as someone pointed out to us recently. These organic photo albums are also great for archival purposes.

Eco-Friendly Photo Albums - New Style in Photography
In recent years on the Internet, and in a select few stores across the country, a fairly new product is starting to catch on with customers. That product is eco-friendly photo albums. Their popularity probably started with the proverbial tree huggers. Then it expanded its popularity base over a period of time to include those who also recycle their trash, and who don't like to litter.

Help the Environment in Style - Eco-Friendly Photo Albums
What can be done about this situation, you may ask. One person making little changes probably won't change a lot.

Does Eco-Friendly Mean Recycled?
Unlike even 30 years ago, many of us, if not most, find ourselves putting out a recycle bin each week on the day our trash is picked up. In that bin can be newspapers, cardboard, plastic, glass, and probably many other things. Some are very good at it, and disciplined about it, while others have never used these bins for their intended purpose.

Give the Gift of "Green" Photo Albums
As this article is being written, we're personally on the verge of the Christmas season, but commercially, it's already in full swing. However, you may read this six months from now, but at that time, it might very well be near a birthday or anniversary, or just after a wonderful vacation, so you could give yourself a gift in which to put your mountain of pictures.

Albums' Raw Materials Produce Textural Illusions
I was just thinking of something which has been a tradition in my life for years. On each New Year's Day, I watch the Rose Parade from Pasadena, CA. In recent years I've found that HGTV does an amazing job of focusing on the types of flowers, seeds, and other organic raw materials used in making the textures and colors of the Rose Parade floats.

How Eco-Friendly Photo Albums Can Preserve Your Memories For Future Generations
Yes, eco-friendly photo albums can preserve your memories for future generations. In normal circumstances, unless you have one of the ancient albums passed along to you by parents or grandparents, with the black stick-on corners, you're probably noticing, or will eventually, that the pictures in your oldest photo albums are not quite as rich in color as they once were.

Handmade - A Rare Trade
If you're old enough, or if you talk to your parents and grandparents, you know that at one time, doctors made house calls. Also, if you pay attention to old buildings and old furniture, you note that there was a huge amount of time spent on making really ornate furniture and buildings by way of intricate wood and stone carving.

What Makes Bali So Special?
Bali, in case you're not up on your world geography, is an island in the largest island nation in the world, Indonesia. Most of that country is Muslim, the largest Muslim country in the world, in fact. However, Bali is an anomaly there, in that it is the only island in the country which is primarily Hindu.

Keep Your Photos and Environment Safe
With all the pictures out there of little polar bear cubs and their mothers up in the arctic looking very thin in recent years, it makes you wonder what the end result will be regarding the impending environmental changes. Rest assured, there are products out there that don't damage the environment one iota, among them being the absolutely beautiful eco-friendly photo albums available on several websites scattered across the Internet.

What Does it Mean to Be Green?
That's an interesting question. But, it's difficult to come up with a good answer, since the Online Dictionary has no definition aside from "one who is concerned with, or supporting, or in conformity with the political principles of the Green Party"...

The Advantages of Handcrafted Eco-Friendly Photo Albums
The way I see it, there are a number of advantages to handcrafted, eco-friendly photo albums. Although a photo album can be eco-friendly without being handcrafted, that same album is very definitely eco-friendly if it is handcrafted, as can be said for that business at large, provided that handcrafting is all they do. From my point of view, the only way it could affect the environment is if one of the artists came to work with bad breath, which is quite a minuscule effect--a point, though rather facetious, which we can all agree upon.

Kokopelli on Your Photo Albums
Recently I was on a website for eco-friendly photo albums, and noticed a category there which intrigued me. The category was entitled "Kokopelli". After doing some research on the Internet, I find it rather remarkable that the handcrafters on the Indonesian island of Bali, where many of these photo albums are made, know of that symbol, which I knew nothing about, though I've vacationed a number of times in the desert Southwest.

Each Album is a Collector's Item
What may, at first, seem a negative is actually what makes eco-friendly photo albums so special. No two are exactly alike. Oh yes, they follow the design scheme for each, just as promised. But, because no two pieces of bamboo, the shades of 2 leaves, flowers which blossomed on different days, seeds, etc., are the same, the slight color variations of each album will, in reality, make them a collector's item.

Eco-Friendly Vs Organic
I have been talking a lot in previous articles about the terms eco-friendly and organic. Maybe it is about time that I define what I am talking about. Is there a difference between the two, or are they referring to the same thing?

Can Photography Be Truly Eco-Friendly?
Ten years ago, I would have had a hard time answering that in a positive manner. The reason for that statement is that until then, a roll of film was sent in to a facility with a darkroom and chemicals, where the photo, slides, or movies were taken into that darkroom and rinsed in a chemical developing solution in order to process the film and make the pictures.

Eco-Friendly Photo Albums and You
Have you looked at the environmental situation recently, and wondered if there is some way you can get involved in the solution instead of the problem without giving up driving, flying, using your power mower, etc.? Of course, one person can't turn the clock back to pre-industrialized days alone. But, as the saying goes, every little bit helps. Then, sometimes it turns out to not be a sacrifice at all.

Eco-Friendly Photo Albums Don't Damage Pictures
After a number of years of blissfully putting our pictures in albums with plastic pages, we're now finding that the pictures, over a period of years, are being damaged by something in the plastic called polyvinyl chlorides, or PVCs. These chemicals drain the colors from the photos, which is really tragic.

Eco-Friendly Photo Albums
From an ecological standpoint, some photo albums easily qualify as eco-friendly photo albums and organic photo albums, in that some are handmade in a workshop rather than a factory, thus eco-friendly, and are made from natural materials just outside the window there at the workshop, things such as bamboo, flowers, leaves and seeds rather than metal or plastic, thus organic. "There" is the island of Bali, part of the 15,000-island nation of Indonesia.

Photographically Documenting a Vacation
Speaking as a person who has avidly been taking vacations annually since shortly after high school graduation, I know how important it has been to me each time to get the photos from the camera to the photo album as quickly as possible. The reason is I'm a bachelor , and as a result, share my vacation by way of pictures when I return, rather than during the trip with family. Many times I find people who, conversely, took a wonderful vacation years ago, buth their photos are still stuffed in a shoebox somewhere, rather than in a photo album where they belong. Procrastination can become a bad habit.
